Hi Future Me,
You don’t know me yet—or maybe you’ve forgotten this version of yourself. I’m you from 2025, sitting at the kitchen table, sipping green tea, wondering if the habits we’re building today will stick. I’m writing this because I want you to know something: I’m proud of you, no matter where you are.
Right now, weight loss feels like a mountain. Some days, the scale moves. Some days, it doesn’t. Some days, we choose the salad; other days, we eat the damn fries and hate ourselves for it. We’re learning to stop calling foods “good” or “bad.” We’re trying to see our body as a partner, not an enemy. It’s messy. But I hope you’re still trying.
Do you remember the little things?
- How we started parking at the far end of the lot just to move more?
- The way we’d dance in the living room to ’90s R&B instead of doom-scrolling?
- The first time we finished a 5K without stopping, even if we walked most of it?
I hope you’ve kept some of those quirks. Or maybe you’ve traded them for new ones—yoga at sunrise? Pickleball? Gardening? Whatever it is, I hope it fuels you, not just burns calories.
Here’s what I need you to know:
- You are more than a number. The scale isn’t your report card. Did you laugh today? Did you hug someone? Did you taste something delicious? That counts.
- Progress isn’t linear. If you’ve had setbacks (and you will), don’t let shame win. We’ve survived worse.
- Your body is a story. Every stretch mark, every scar, every strong muscle—it’s proof you’ve lived.
Questions for Future You:
- Do you still make our famous “lazy chili” recipe? (You know, the one with extra garlic?)
- Do you finally love morning walks, or did you find a better way to move?
- Have you stopped apologizing for taking up space?
I hope you’ve met people who celebrate you as you are. I hope you’ve stopped comparing your journey to anyone else’s. And if you’re a parent/grandparent/auntie by now, I hope you’re teaching the kids that health isn’t about shrinking—it’s about living.
A Few Lessons from Today:
- Rest is not failure. Skipping a workout to heal is wisdom.
- Cravings are data, not demons. They tell us what we need—sleep, joy, nutrients.
- Joyful movement > punishment. We’re done with “burning off” meals.
Last Thing: If you’re reading this after a hard day—maybe you binged, maybe you skipped the gym, maybe life threw a curveball—be kind. The you who wrote this email is rooting for you. Always.
We’re not chasing “before and after.” We’re building a “during.”
Keep going.

P.S. Do we still hate burpees? 😉
Blog Note: Pair this with a photo of a well-loved pair of running shoes, a handwritten list of goals, or a “then vs. now” collage celebrating non-scale victories (e.g., hiking a trail, cooking a meal, or a favorite outfit that now represents confidence, not sizes).
